The Group
The history of Veranda Management Limited
The adventure of Veranda Hotel began in 1982 with the creation of the Veranda Bungalow Village. The concept is a simple one, "to give visitors the opportunity to live as Mauritians do during their stay on the island", an innovative approach at a time when Mauritius focussed on luxury hotels.
Given the spectacular success of Veranda Bungalow Village, the adventure continues with the acquisition of other hotels in the north and east of the island. In 20 years the small family business has become a truly Mauritian hotel group.
Today the group is still run with that family spirit embodying simplicity and respect for the traditions of Mauritius, associated with the real know-how and professionalism of a true hotelier.
In 2004, the group opened their first up market resort in Bel Ombre : the Heritage Golf & Spa Resort boasts 160 rooms. In January 2009, emboldened by the success of the Heritage, the group acquired the Telfair Golf & Spa Resort, a luxury establishment which is a member of the "Small Luxury Hotels of the World." The group thus now has an inventory of 686 rooms and has strengthened its position at the premium end of the market. In April 2009, Veranda also integrated a new activity into its hotel offerings - Rental management of IRS villas (The Villas Valriche) - thereby reaffirming its commitment to expansion and positioning itself as a major player in the Mauritian hotel scene. The acquisition of Telfair led to the long expected development of two distinctive ‘umbrella’ brands namely Veranda Resorts and Heritage Resorts.
Consequently, from November 2009, Heritage Golf & Spa Resort became Heritage Awali Golf & Spa Resort and Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort has become the Heritage Le Telfair Golf & Spa Resort.
